10+ ADHD Resources To Give You New Perspective

Updated: Mar 29

Among the most common diagnoses I see is ADHD. While common, it is often misunderstood and rarely viewed in a strengths-based way. Below are a variety of resources to share with families or simply to review for yourself. While it may not be possible or even helpful to only focus on the strengths of ADHD, many of these resources are strengths-based.

None of these resources are my own nor am I associated with any of the entities, but they are some of my favorite resources. Enjoy, and please share this article :)

1. Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD) - CHADD.org

(Click here for CHADD.org) CHADD offers educational resources in English and Spanish for caregivers, adults, children, professionals, and educators interested in learning about ADHD. They even offer a line ( 1-866-200-8098, M-F, 1-5 pm ET) to speak with an ADHD specialist (English and Spanish). CHADD also runs two podcasts: ADHD 365 and All Things ADHD. There are also support groups available, depending on your area.

2a. ADHD - "Under the Sea" Parody on Youtube by the Holderness Family

While this video is my favorite, this channel has many different videos on ADHD (usually very strengths-based), and the man in the video has a lot of videos where he talks about ADHD. It is very normalizing, though some are meant just for jokes. See 2b for another example!

2b. 10 ADHD Lifehacks from Penn on Youtube by the Holderness Family

3. Lets talk about ADHD on Youtube by the NCMH (National Centre for Mental Health)

4. ADHD Medication (Psych Hub)

5. I have ADHD Podcast with Kristen Carder

6. Episode of Behavioral Health Today podcast: Surfacing Superpowers within ADHD with Dr. Ned Hallowell & Dr. Lloyd Sederer - Episode 74.

I have found this podcast on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. They talk about the problem with the name itself, and an alternative name to call ADHD, as well as other tips and tricks. (Click here for link)

7. Women & ADHD: Interviews with Katy Weber

This podcast is another podcast ran by a woman with ADHD, from my understanding. The host brings in a variety of interviewees to talk about topics like parenting kids with ADHD, adjusting expectations, sleep problems, etc. (Click here for Spotify link)

8. ADHD Experts Podcast by ADDitude

This podcast is yet another podcast that covers a variety of topics such sensory processing issues, time blindness, comorbidity with dslexia, ADHD and anxiety, etc. (click here for Spotify link)
