Autism Spectrum Disorder Resources for Families (English/Spanish)

Updated: Jan 3

I have found that, when I have a client who has been diagnosed with Autism, the family members and client are not always given the psychoeducation they need. I spent some time finding some resources on Autism.

Autism Speaks (Website and Hotline, English and Spanish): www.autismspeaks.org This site provides a lot of information on Autism, in English and Spanish, though less information is in Spanish. I highly recommend scrolling through to identify specific PDFs that may be helpful. Also, they have an Autism Response Team that does things like give information about resources and explain signs of Autism (click here for more information) English line: 1-888-288-4762. Spanish Line: 1-888-772-9050

All Autism Talk (Podcast, English): This podcast talks about recent research, helpful organizations, and general information on Autism.

Organization for Autism Research (Website, English and Spanish): ResearchAutism.org > How We Help > Resources OR Families. This site also provides various resources including activity books for kids and information for families and educators.

Autism Society (Website, English): www.autismsociety.org There is information on Autism, of course, but also an Autism Source resource center (click here) to help families look for resources.

The Center on Secondary Education for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders: CSESA.fpg.unc.edu This site provides information and resources to help teens transition to adulthood and college.

I also recommend that professionals review my 7 Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Videos article. There are videos for how to help families learn about Autism AND videos that can be shared with families. :)
